Comillas recorded their first settlements in prehistoric times, as evidenced by the caves of La Meaza , with paleolithic cave paintings 14,000 years ago. They were discovered in 1907. They have also been found in its territory archaeological sites of a castle medieval in Peñacastillo. The most popular and multitudinous fiestas de Comillas are held between 15 and 18 July for the Cristo del Amparo .
